To date, the Paraguayan cassava starch industry ranks fourth in the ranking of the largest exporters worldwide. Despite this good result, the local industry is not satisfied and takes on a new challenge: working to develop and integrate the trident of the top marketers in this field.
Paraguay generates 17 million dollars in exports from the sale of 37,000 tons of starch per year, a volume generated by 14 industries belonging to seven companies, as reported by Jorge Johanssen, president of the Paraguayan Chamber of Cassava and Starch (Capama).
Above Paraguay are Thailand, which handles a volume of 1.8 million tons exported (922 million dollars); Vietnam, with a volume of shipments of 392,000 tons (and income of the order of 190 million); and Indonesia, with 90,000 tons and 49 million dollars.
